“For the past year, we’ve seen towns and cities, public institutions, colleges, and other spaces across the Commonwealth engage in fraught, tension-laden discord over how to talk about the ongoing events in the Middle East and how to hold the pain and trauma of all residents of Massachusetts. As we mark the one-year anniversary of Hamas’s attack on Israel and attempt to make sense of that horrific day, I’ve frequently been asked: How should we commemorate this day?
