Statement of Solidarity and Allyship with our Armenian neighbors from the Jewish Community Relations Council as read at the Rally for Artsakh in Boston on Saturday, September 30th.
Allow me to convey, on behalf of the organized Jewish community in greater Boston, our solidarity and allyship with our Armenian neighbors here in New England and with the Armenian community in Artsakh who are under dire threat at this moment.
Though I am not with you in person today because of the Jewish Sabbath, I want to reaffirm that our communities are bound together by our shared legacies as peoples targeted for genocide, and by our experience as refugees fleeing persecution when we came to this commonwealth. This shared heritage has led us to stand together time and again to affirm that never again, for anyone, can the world stand idly by in the face of ethnic cleansing, including of the Armenians of Artsakh.
We, the organized Jewish community in Boston, join with you in calling on the United States and the international community to immediately intervene to guarantee the rights and safety of Armenians living in, or fleeing, Artsakh at this time. The situation is dire. The world must take action.
We stand together, now and always. And we will not be silent.
