Urge the Massachusetts Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight to support Anti-Discrimination Language.
The S.1689/H.1685: Act Act Prohibiting Discrimination in State Contracts bill prohibits the state from contracting with companies that are engaged in discrimination, including those that boycott Israeli businesses solely based on their nationality. Singling out and refusing to deal with a business owner based on an immutable characteristic —national origin in the BDS context—is a form of discrimination and taxpayer funds should not be used to subsidize this conduct.

The Safe Communities Act is Massachusetts’ comprehensive answerto the federal government’s aggressive deportation agenda. This legislation would protect the civil rights of all state residents by making sure our tax dollars are not used to help the Trump administration deport immigrant families or to create a Muslim registry.
This effort has been spearheaded by the MA Immigration and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA), of which JCRC is a member. We support this legislation and will continue to work with our partners to show the nation that Massachusetts stands with our immigrant families!
