Volunteering runs once a week from the week of March 2nd through week of May 18th.
Join us for our cycle kickoff Wednesday February 26th at 6:30pm at Cambridge Brewing Company. Save the date for our two Shabbat dinners on March 27th and May 15th! ReachOut! will not hold events or volunteer nights on the Jewish Holidays. We will be in touch with you if this affects your group. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Senior Connections at The Golda Meir House in NewtonMondays, 7:00pm-8:00pm
Take part in discussion groups and create connections with the senior residents.
Location: Close to the Woodland stop on the Riverside ‘D’ Green line. Free parking available. Youth Connections at St. Stephen’s Church in the South End – FULL
Mondays 6:00pm-7:00pm
Volunteers will be matched up with one or two middle school students to engage in both a mentoring and academic tutoring relationship. The goal is to create a positive healthy relationship with the middle school students to help them accomplish their homework, work on reading/writing, and build additional academic and social skills.
*Volunteers should be comfortable talking with and engaging middle school students.
Location: South End, off the Orange line at Ruggles or Massachusetts Ave stops or the #15 or #170 bus
Hunger and Homelessness at First Parish in Cambridge – FULL
Tuesdays, 5:15-7:30pm
Prepare and serve meals to those in need.
Location: Harvard Square, off the Red line
Senior Connections at Hebrew Senior Life in Brookline at 100 Centre Street
Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30pm
Take part in discussion groups and create connections with the senior residents.
Location: Coolidge Corner, off the ‘C’ Green line. Building Relationships with Yachad in Brookline
Thursdays 6:00pm-8:00pm
Yachad is an organization devoted to creating an inclusive environment for Jewish individuals with disabilities. ReachOut! volunteers will assist the Yachad social worker to teach the Yachad participants self-advocacy and life skills such as active listening, assertive communication, and cooking.
Location: Congregation Kehillath Israel in Coolidge Corner, off the ‘C’ Green line. Access to Affordable Food at Daily Table in Roxbury
Thursdays, 6:30-8pm
Help with the daily operations of the store including bagging groceries, packaging, stocking, and sorting.
Location: Roxbury, off the silver line at the Dudley Square stop or off the orange line at Ruggles or off the #1 bus at Washington St. @ Ruggles St. There is also some street parking available. Drop-in Volunteer Option
Can’t make a weekly commitment due to an ever-changing schedule? Want to be able to volunteer at multiple locations throughout the cycle? Then choosing the drop-in option is right for you! Four of our volunteer sites (Golda, Daily Table, Tuesday Meals, and Hebrew SeniorLife) can accommodate a few drop-in volunteers per night. If you select this option, you will be able to select as many or as few nights as you like. Each week drop-in volunteers will be notified that sign-ups are available, and spots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
